Butterflies are typical symbols of rebirth or freedom. The use of pinks, reds, and lighter colors trigger the idea that when we look at ourselves, there are things you should love. By allowing the paint to run, ooze or clump together, the idea that imperfections are what make you who you are can be visualized. With a similar concept to Regret where the viewer is to feel as if they are looking in a mirror at yourself, this was a different interpretation. Instead of seeing things you are not happy with, the use of different colors were used to make Thank You show the good parts of yourself that you should love. While it is hard for us to see the good sides or features of ourselves, we need to eventually come to terms that we all are outstandingly perfect in our own ways.

Line, color, texture value, and shape are the primary elements incorporated in this piece. The principles of contrast, emphasis, and movement are created from the elements. The lines from the watered down paint drips, scratched out lines, and the brush strokes create a flowing movement through the composition. The loose linen that is attached near the center of the work creates a small shape. The use of lighter colors next to darker values create contrast, as well as emphasis. This also creates an emphasis around the focal point - the eye. Going back to the brushwork, it creates texture while it stays unblended.
